Two Fairs Merge to Create One-stop Sourcing Platform for International Buyers - Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair 2008

In order to provide a one-stop sourcing platform for buyers in related industries, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Limited (CIEC) have merged the Hong Kong International Building Materials & Construction Equipment Fair with the Hong Kong International Hardware & Home Improvement Fair. The fair, re-named as the "Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair 2008", will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo, near Hong Kong International Airport, from October 28 - 31, 2008.

In 2007, both fairs attracted more than 20,000 buyers from 113 countries and regions. As a result of the merge of the fairs, the 2008 show will exhibit a wider range of products, including building materials, decoration materials, hardware & DIY products, bathroom fittings & sanitary wares, doors/windows & accessories, building technology, safety & security system, building engineering & services, and lawn & yard products. Hence, buyers can source a huge variety of building, decoration materials and hardware products under one roof.

As one of the leading suppliers of building materials, Hong Kong's export of building materials (including hardware) amounted to more than US$11.9 billion (HK$in the first 11 months of 2007, an 8.4% increase over the same period in 2006. This has been largely led by outstanding performances from the Chinese mainland, Macau and France, which recorded 19%, 37%, and 41% growth respectively over the same period in 2006. Other emerging markets such as India and Vietnam also showed good signs of growth, with 57% and 70% respectively. With markets in general showing rising growth prospects, the Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair is the perfect platform for exhibitors to promote their product and services to international buyers.

For nearly 40 years, the TDC has been organising some of the largest and most professional trade fairs in the world. With its extensive network of offices and databases of commercial contacts around the world, the TDC strives to create the best fairs that bring business opportunities to traders. Meanwhile, CIEC has strong connections with building materials and hardware industry players around the world. By coming together, these two powerful forces will bring the best tools and expertise to the Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair 2008.
