Twin fairs furnish business opportunities October has always been a buying season for many industries, and it is no different for the lighting and hardware sectors. The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair and Hong Kong International Hardware & Home Improvement Fair will be held concurrently from October 28 – 31, 2007 to furnish business opportunities. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the two fairs will take place at the city-centre Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The two fairs together will house more than 1,350 exhibitors under one roof. The 9th edition of Hong Kong International Lighting Fair features a dazzling array of new and innovative lighting products. The largest event of its kind in Asia, and the second largest in the world, it showcases the latest in lighting and lighting technology. It offers a platform for sourcing a huge range of products from international suppliers. To enhance its international reputation, the fair will be brightened up with two new zones, Crystal Indulgence Zone and Galaxy of Stars. Crystal Indulgence Zone puts the focus on crystal lighting and chandeliers, while the Galaxy of Stars is a premium showcase that displays lighting in a sophisticated environment. In addition, Green Lighting Zone, Holiday Favour Zone, Outdoor Lighting Section, Parts & Accessories Pavilion and World of Table Lamps will return to display a wide range of lighting products and accessories to the international buyers. The spotlight of the fair will be on the 1st Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition. With the theme of “Light Up Your Future”, the objectives of the competition are to enhance the design quality of the Hong Kong lighting industry, induce new innovations and styles in product design, and promote Hong Kong’s lighting products among international buyers. The prize-winning designs will be showcased at the fairground, where people in the lighting industry from around the world will be able to view Hong Kong designers’ talents. Last year, the fair attracted more than 25,000 buyers from 117 countries and regions, an increase of 5.5% from the previous year. Reaffirming Hong Kong’s position as the premier sourcing hub for lighting products in Asia, about 64% of the buyers came from outside Hong Kong. At Hong Kong International Lighting Fair 2007, it is expected that more than 1,220 companies will exhibit at the fair, and present the lighting industry with plenty of bright business prospects. Concurrently, the Hong Kong International Hardware & Home Improvement Fair will offer around 130 exhibitors. Running for the 11th time, the fair offers unbeatable sourcing of a comprehensive range of home improvement, hardware and DIY: everything from bathroom fittings to home security systems. To provide additional sourcing opportunities for buyers, a new DIY Zone will be launched this year, showcasing handles, power tools, hand tools, locks, do-it-yourself products and more. Returning thematic zones are Décor Zone, Outdoor & Gardening World and Sanitary World, which are always welcomed by the visitors. Showcasing the best and the latest creations, the fair retains its significance and internationalism in the industry. A total of 13,490 buyers from 112 countries and regions visited the fair last year, with 62% of them coming from outside Hong Kong. To give buyers a wider selection, the Hong Kong International Furniture Fair and the Hong Kong International Building Materials & Construction Equipment Fair will be held concurrently at the AsiaWorld-Expo near the Hong Kong International Airport, from October 27 – 30. ~ END~ For media queries, please contact Ms Kanice Ho, Exhibitions, HKTDC, Tel: (852) 2240 4961 or Fax: (852) 2169 9193 or email: kanice.sk.ho@tdc.org.hk
